Renovations Project
There are 24 buildings being renovated or undergoing face lifts in Downtown Clarksdale. Some are on the drawing table and some are in full blown construction. Owners are being encouraged to design their renovations within the context of a small Delta town and the historic district that has been established here.

To the right is a sample (225 Yazoo) of the direction we are taking renovation efforts. Before and after photos show the state of the building when renovation began and the result of trying to recreate its original look. There are other projects along Yazoo that are also reflecting the historic appearance.

The objective of the focus on context relevant design is to retain the authenticity that visitors to Clarksdale come to experience. We want to retain a balance between clean-up/fix-up and not altering the character of the town.

Historic District Tax Credits, Federal and State, are available for work done to buildings in the Downtown district. Clarksdale Revitalization is available to help with designs, application for tax credits and to provide general information about projects being considered.
