Welcome to the Mississippi Delta, where cotton is king, the River is the life force and the music was born. Welcome to Clarksdale, where the blues highways, 49 and 61, cross. There was far more than cotton exported from the Delta, and Clarksdale in particular. The music, cuisine and culture was exported as musicians and laborers boarded trains and buses, taking their treasures to Memphis, St. Louis, Chicago, New York and the rest of the world. Southern home cookin’ became “Soul Food” and the music from the fields became known worldwide as the Blues and Gospel. Today, people are looking for the roots of the culture that they have come to love and are coming to Clarksdale to experience it firsthand … to immerse themselves in the music and the history and relax surrounded by Southern hospitality. We’re doing our best to preserve the history and culture and provide the authenticity that people want to experience. The music that was born here just naturally flows as if it were a product of the water. New generations are carrying on the musical tradition under the watchful eyes of the old masters and the real thing survives within the cycle of life in the Delta. There is no place else on earth that you’ll find the true soul of the music. Come see for yourself ... once you do, we know you’ll be back! |
